In a tragic incident on Boxing Day, a 23-year-old woman named Amanda Uchechi Ugo allegedly gunned down a police officer identified as Cosmas Ugwu in the Ezinihitte Area Command of Imo State.
The victim, a member of the Imo State Police Command, was involved in a fatal altercation with his girlfriend, Amanda, resulting in him being shot three times—twice in the chest and once in the hand.
Despite immediate efforts by his colleagues to save him, the wounded officer was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident and disclosed that the suspect, Amanda Uchechi Ugo, has been apprehended.

Speaking to DAILY POST, PPRO Okoye stated, “The incident is a very unfortunate one. This thing happened two days ago. She allegedly shot the officer and he was immediately rushed to a hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
“Currently, the suspect has been arrested and she will be transed to the state Criminal Investigation Department, CID.
“There, a forensic investigation will be carried out after which she will be arraigned in court with an appropriate criminal charge”.
