Nine individuals have been detained in Sokoto by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for manufacturing pillows using unsanitary materials such as used sanitary pads, discarded children’s diapers, rags, and other waste materials.
The suspects, including minors, were rounded up from various locations in the state and presented at the NSCDC Command Headquarters in Sokoto on Wednesday, according to the state commandant, Bello Alkali-Argungu.
He revealed that the materials used in the pillow production were collected from garbage bins, drainages, and other areas across the state. These pillows were then sold to unsuspecting members of the public.
