Anambra

In the aftermath of a brutal attack in Anambra State that claimed the lives of two policemen and two civilians, the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has demanded the resignation of Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, citing alleged inadequacies in addressing the escalating security challenges in the state.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday night, involved unidentified gunmen attacking the convoy of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Chief Chris Uba.

The assailants killed two policemen and two civilians, while several others were reportedly abducted. Chief Uba managed to escape the assault in his bullet-proof vehicle.

In a statement released by COSEYL’s President General, Goodluck Ibem, the coalition expressed deep concerns regarding the prevailing security issues in Anambra State.

They called for urgent action, urging the immediate apprehension of the perpetrators behind the heinous attacks.

The call for Governor Soludo’s resignation comes amid heightened tensions and a growing sense of insecurity in the region, with youth leaders emphasizing the need for a more robust and effective response to safeguard the lives and property of the citizens.

“It is worrisome that such a deadly attack could be executed during the Christmas period, a time highly respected and revered by Christians all over the world.

“This is a big slap and we will not take it lying low. Those hoodlums must be arrested and prosecuted immediately.

“We give Governor Charles Soludo 48 hours to immediately resign and apologize to the good people of Anambra State for leadership incompetence and lack of capacity to defend his people”, the statement added.
