The failure of Bola Tinubu’s administration to disburse December salaries for federal workers has drawn criticism from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Debo Ologunagba, the national publicity secretary of the PDP, asserted that the non-payment of salaries unequivocally reflects the administration’s indifference to the welfare of its citizens, portraying a government seemingly intent on causing hardship for Nigerians.
The PDP contends that the administration’s lackadaisical attitude toward salary payments, especially during the festive season, underscores the Tinubu-led APC administration’s insensitivity.
Ologunagba labeled the present leadership as one that has transformed the nation into a vast Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, emphasizing that millions of Nigerians are now grappling with hunger, anguish, and misery.
Accusing the APC government of weaponizing poverty and enforcing submission to totalitarianism, Ologunagba highlighted that the non-payment of December salaries, crucial for workers and security operatives, aligns with the administration’s strategy to wield poverty as a tool for suppressing Nigerians.

The PDP spokesperson condemned the apparent revelry and opulent displays by the President and his party members, juxtaposed against the unpaid workers struggling to provide for their families. He criticized the administration for prioritizing lavish spending on foreign trips for political associates while neglecting salary obligations.
Ologunagba commended past PDP administrations for their prompt salary payments, contrasting it with the current situation under the Tinubu Presidency. Expressing concern over the administration’s ability to withhold salaries despite increased fuel prices, he urged Nigerians to question the whereabouts of the funds shared by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).
The PDP demanded the immediate payment of December salaries and an additional compensatory payment of at least 50% to alleviate the economic hardships caused by the administration’s failure to fulfill salary obligations. Emphasizing the need for the administration to adhere to constitutional principles and the rule of law, the PDP called for governance based on legal frameworks rather than the arbitrary desires of individuals or groups.
