The Deputy Governor of Edo State sought forgiveness from his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki, as the heat between the two continued. This was stated during Shaibu’s address on Thursday in Benin City. The two politicians have locked horns for weeks over moves involving alleged secret plans to impeach the deputy governor.
The deputy governor had denied a claim that the governor plans to send him off the grid from his (Shaibu) office. Addressing the press, Deputy Governor Shaibu says, “I use this medium to appeal to Mr. Governor; if there is anything that I don’t know that I have done, please forgive me so that we can develop our state together. We have just one more year, and we have been the envy of the entire country.
“Mr. Governor, if there’s anything you feel that I have done wrong, please let me know. I am sorry. I need us to work together to finish well and strong”.
“We have resumed at the new office, but there’s a lot of work to be done there. There is no problem with it. The governor has asked us to go there, and as I said, I am a loyal servant to the governor, and nothing will change”.
Following his open plea and a wave of a peace flag, the deputy governor re-assures his support for Gov. Obaseki. He said, “I took a personal vow to support my governor, and you can see my Catholic people are here. When I took a vow with God, nothing can change it, and I wish that the relationship that we had may come back in the next few days and weeks”.
“I am missing my governor, and by the grace of God, he’ll touch the governor’s heart and touch all of us and evil those that are between us. I mean well for him. If there’s any mistake I have made as a human, it is not out of wickedness, because I know I am not wicked. I have a very clean heart.”
