In a disturbing incident during a deliverance service at a church in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, a mentally unstable man allegedly attacked a worshipper with a machete. The incident occurred as the pastor attempted to pray for the man’s healing.
According to a reliable source, the pastor, confident in his ability to heal the mentally unstable individual, initiated prayers during the deliverance service.
Amidst the ongoing prayers, a struggle ensued between the deranged man, the pastor, and other church members.
Shockingly, the mentally unstable individual seized a cutlass from the church altar and inflicted a deep cut on one of the worshippers.
The victim was promptly rushed to a hospital, where reports indicate that he is responding positively to treatment. The alleged perpetrator of the attack has been taken to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation and medication.
The source stated, “The man of God claimed he could heal the mad man and started praying.
“As the prayers were ongoing, the insane man, during a struggle with the pastor and other members of the church picked up a cutlass from the altar and wounded one of the worshippers.
“The suspected unsound mind has been taken to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation and medication.”
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident through a press release by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga. The statement explained that the pastor, in an attempt to heal the madman, initiated prayers. However, the situation escalated, leading to the assailant grabbing a cutlass from the altar and injuring a worshipper.
The statement read partly, “Preliminary information reveals that the man of God claimed he could heal the madman and started praying.
“As the prayers were ongoing, the insane man, during a struggle with the pastor and other members/witnesses, picked up a cutlass from the altar and wounded one of the members.
“Furthermore, the suspected unsound mind has been taken to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation and medication, and his relatives are under interrogation in safe custody. Further details shall be communicated.”
