Kashim Shettima Insults an Old-Time Classmate to Drive Home a Point

Kashim Shettima made an insulting remark about his old classmate on Friday at the 10th National Assembly retreat in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

In a bid to drive home his point on why legislators are privileged to be in positions that afford them financial affluence, Shettima demeaned his former classmate, going as far as mentioning his name without a sense of discretion.

“The best-graduating student in my class was Usman Oladipo. Oladipo is languishing as a DGM at one mediocre bank. He was the best-graduating student, and that goes to show that we are here not because we are the best of the best,” he said.

Mr. Shettima, who has a reputation for dishing out disparaging remarks, adds Mr. Oladipo to his list of victims. After hosting the DGM, who, according to him, was his classmate from the University of Ibadan, MSc class of 1991, he deemed it appropriate to come out in public to lecture lawmakers on humility using him as a case study.

It can be recalled also that same Kashim Shettima, during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election, called Yemi Osinbajo a man who should be selling pop-corn and ice cream.

The former Bornu State Governor, who many believed failed as both governor of Bornu State for 8 years and Senator for Bornu Central for another 4 years, has proven over time to be one who is tactless when it comes to dealing with people.
