JUST IN: EFCC Re-Arraigns Emefiele, Ex-CBN Gov Pleads Not Guilty

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, on Friday faced arraignment at the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on 20 counts related to alleged corrupt practices and forgery.

Attired in ash-colored trousers and a dark jacket, the ex-CBN governor arrived at the court premises alongside his legal team and a small group of aides.

Initially, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had charged Emefiele with six counts related to N1.2bn procurement allegations.

However, with the court’s permission, the EFCC subsequently modified and expanded the charges against Emefiele.
