Supreme Court: Nasarawa People Were Robbed of Their Mandate — Aisha Yesufu

In a strong rebuke of the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the Nasarawa State governorship election, renowned socio-political activist Aisha Yesufu has expressed her dismay, characterizing the ruling as a “robbery” and a “coup on the people.”

The apex court, on Friday, upheld the election of Governor Sule Abdullahi, dismissing the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Emmanuel David Ombugadu.

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, delivering the lead and unanimous judgment, asserted that the allegations presented by the PDP and Ombugadu lacked probative value.

Aisha Yesufu, taking to her X handle, asserted that “Nasarawa people were robbed of their mandate.

“This is a coup on the people. They chose who they wanted and they were denied their mandate.

“It is another sad day for democracy in Nigeria,” she added.
