Nigeria’s First Female Major General, Aderonke Kale, Laid to Rest in Ogun

In a solemn ceremony held at St James Anglican Church, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Major General Aderonke Kale (Rtd), Nigeria’s pioneering female Major General, was laid to rest on January 19, 2024.

The revered military figure, who passed away on November 8, 2023, at the age of eighty-four, shattered gender barriers during her distinguished career in the Nigerian Army.

Representatives from the Nigerian Army, led by Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Toareed Lagbaja, paid their respects during the funeral.

Major General Gbeminga Adesina, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, praised General Kale’s dedicated service to the nation, emphasising her inspirational journey through the ranks.

A Service of Songs and Tribute Night was held on January 16, 2024, at the Admiralty Conference Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, honoring General Kale’s legacy.

The wake keep, hosted at the Chapel of the Resurrection Hall, University of Ibadan, brought together friends, family, and colleagues to reminisce about the remarkable life of the late Major General.

The ceremony also saw the presence of distinguished figures, including the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, along with other senior officers and commanders.
