Amid escalating tensions of a potential World War III with Russia, the United States is set to deploy nuclear warheads in the UK for the first time in 15 years.
These warheads, expected to be three times more powerful than the Hiroshima bomb, may find their place at the Royal Air Force Lakenheath base.
This decision is part of NATO’s initiative to enhance and modernize nuclear facilities following Russia’s invasion.
The US removed its nuclear arsenal from the UK in 2008, when the threat of the Cold War diminished.
The reintroduction of nuclear weapons to the UK aligns with NATO’s broader strategy to bolster nuclear sites worldwide in anticipation of heightened conflicts.
