Residents of Abakaliki, Ebonyi, have urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to allow the will of voters to prevail in the ongoing Ebonyi South Senatorial by-election.
INEC had earlier assured the people that it would conduct a credible and transparent election in the district.
The residents, who spoke in a separate interview with Newsmen on Saturday in Abakaliki, called on all stakeholders to play the game according to the rules.
Mr Godwin Nnanna, a resident of Abakaliki, said that a credible and acceptable election would restore citizens’ confidence, trust, and hope in the electoral process.

Also, Mr Santus Ikele, a resident, called on INEC to resist any form of pressure in accepting “flawed results” procured from any local government area.
Another resident, Mrs Judith Eze, said she wanted the process to be peaceful and orderly.
Eze expressed optimism that the final result would be a reflection of the wish of the electorate who braved all odds to come out and exercise their franchise.
On her part, Mrs Patricia Okpaga, urged all stakeholders and security agents involved in the by-election to conduct themselves appropriately.
The atmosphere is reportedly calm and peaceful on all the major roads and streets visited in Abakaliki metropolis.
