In a recent development, the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of its officers who were allegedly involved in the abduction and extortion of N29.9m from a businessman in Abuja.
The force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed this on Tuesday while disclosing that the force has taken significant steps towards ensuring that justice prevailed in the case.
He said, “We are making headway on this matter, and justice will be served, as some suspects have been arrested.”
According to reports, the businessman was taken hostage by armed police officers at one of his locations in Abuja. They held him captive until he complied with their demand to transfer all the funds from his bank account to them.

In a video, a narrator described the incident as beyond extortion, classifying it as a criminal act involving kidnapping and ransom collection.
In recounting the shocking incident, the narrator said: ” This young man, unsuspecting and going to his site was abruptly intercepted by some police officers who were dressed in black with AK-47 seven rifle magazines.
“He was taken to an undisclosed location and they started checking his phone, they saw his account balance, they saw his wallet and everything, and forced him into relinquishing every last penny from his savings.”
The sheer audacity of their demands did not stop there, as they insisted that the victim reach out to his loved ones and acquaintances to send additional money before they would set him free.
The incident has caused outrage among the public, who have been demanding strict action against the officers.
