In a notable shift of sentiment within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, the former National Vice Chairman, Northwest, has raised alarm over the trajectory of Bola Tinubu‘s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda,’ asserting that it is swiftly transforming into ‘renewed anger.’
Lukman’s remarks came in the wake of recent protests in Minna and Kano, where citizens voiced their discontent with the escalating cost of living.
Expressing his concern, Lukman admonished the Federal government, deeming the protests a wake-up call. He criticized the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, for attributing the demonstrations to opposition sponsorship, even in the party’s traditional strongholds.
Lukman emphasized the need for the APC leadership and government to take responsibility rather than deflecting blame.
He stated, “If the truth must be told, there is hunger in the land! As a committed member of APC, it is very depressing that this is happening under the leadership of our party.
“Even more depressing was the statement issued by Mr. Felix Morka, our National Publicity Secretary, alleging that opposition parties are behind the protests.
“For Mr. Morka to issue such a very dishonest statement points to only one thing – that the leadership of our party has completely lost it and at this rate their political utility value is zero. This clearly suggests that even the old pretences about being progressive have been thrown to the dogs,” he added.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Lukman underscored that the protests, emerging within a year of the Bola Tinubu administration, demand a swift and effective government response.
He emphasised the critical need for a response that addresses the stark reality of skyrocketing prices of goods and services, particularly food items, which continue to surge at an alarming rate. #Agenda
