Nigerian Army troops have rescued 18 kidnapped female victims from the clutches of bandits in Katsina.
Brig. Gen. Oluremi Fadairo, the Brigade Commander of 17 Brigade, revealed that the successful rescue took place at Yan-Tumaki and Dan-Ali forests, where soldiers engaged in a gun battle with the terrorists.
The rescued victims were subsequently handed over to the Katsina State Government.
During the handover to the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasiru Mu’azu, Brig. Gen. Fadairo emphasised the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to restoring permanent peace in the state. He urged continued efforts to rescue other kidnapped victims.
Commissioner Mu’azu, in response, reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring lasting peace in Katsina. He highlighted Governor Dikko Radda’s substantial investments in the security sector, noting, “the investments have been yielding positive results.”
