CAF President Urges Nigeria to Host World Cup

Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has urged Nigeria to place a bid to host the FIFA World Cup in the future.

Motsepe made this statement during a press conference ahead of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final on Sunday.

Motsepe praised Nigeria’s passion for football and its contribution to the development of sport in Africa.

“If you haven’t been to Lagos, you haven’t been to Africa,” Motsepe said.

Motsepe also revealed that he will discuss the possibility of Nigeria’s World Cup bid with Bola Tinubu.

Motsepe’s comment comes as the country prepares to face host nation Ivory Coast in the AFCON final at the Bouake International Stadium.

The match is expected to be a thrilling encounter between two successful and popular teams in African football history.

Nigeria has won the AFCON three times, while Ivory Coast has two titles to their name.

Both teams have also qualified for the FIFA World Cup on several occasions, with Nigeria making six appearances and Ivory coast making three.
