Nigeria’s national football team, Super Eagles, is currently grappling with the uncertain future of head coach Jose Peseiro.
The 63-year-old Portuguese manager’s six-month contract, signed with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) last year, concluded with the conclusion of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He’s primary mandate was to guide the team to the AFCON semi-finals, a task he not only accomplished but exceeded by steering the Eagles to the final.
In a closely contested match, the Super Eagles faced a 2-1 defeat against hosts Ivory Coast in the AFCON final.

Despite the team’s commendable performance, Peseiro’s fate remains in the balance as the NFF has not yet made any official announcements regarding the extension or termination of his contract.
