Emilokan’ Supporters Now Know Hunger is Their Turn — Sowore

Hunger is Their Turn — Sowore

Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has asserted that supporters of Bola Tinubu, popularly known by the Yoruba slogan “Emilokan” (It is my turn), are now facing the harsh reality of hunger and hardship.

Speaking to reporters following a trumped-up treason trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, which was later discontinued by the Nigerian government on Friday morning, Sowore emphasized the growing discontent among citizens. The trial stemmed from Sowore’s leadership of a revolutionary protest in 2019.

Sowore, who contested in both the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections under the African Action Congress (AAC), underscored his earlier predictions that a revolution would gain momentum when the average Nigerian struggled to afford basic necessities.

He pointed to the dire economic conditions exacerbated by what he described as the disastrous policies of the Tinubu government.

The activist’s remarks come amid escalating tensions and widespread dissatisfaction with the state of governance in Nigeria, signaling a deepening rift between the ruling establishment and ordinary citizens grappling with the impacts of economic downturns and governmental negligence.

“The good news is that the revolution they are running from is getting closer. As I’ve always said, when the revolution wants to happen, a lot of events will happen. But the last trigger is always hunger. And the people of Nigeria are very hungry this time, Yeah, The hungry man is a revolutionary. So Nigerians have been taken for granted. They have been battered. People have been destroyed, businesses are leaving the country once again. People cannot afford to feed anymore, even if they want.

“Insecurity everywhere, kidnapping in every corner. And the currency of the country. We also warn in this court when people were saying that Buhari has left that “Emilokan” would be worse than Buhari, that is Tinubu and it has also come to pass. Tinubu does not even care about anybody, except himself and his criminal colleagues, and board members who are running Nigeria. Nigeria Plc. They have done everything to destroy the economy.

“They’ve done everything to break an average Nigerian. And those who are saying that it is our turn. What is their turn now is suffering, hunger, starvation, sorrow, you know, and a bloody lifestyle that is intolerable. Yeah, the revolution that they have been running away from is now,” He said.
