The Delta State Police Command has reacted to claims that a young man was chased to death by Delta Hawk Security Operatives.
The security operatives were launched in 2020 by the Former Governor of the State, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, the law enforcement agency had not identified the victim, who drowned at the waterside at Ubeji/ Egbokodo itsekiri in the State.
The video provided by an X (formerly known as Twitter) user Ofenoni had accused the Delta Hawks of being responsible for the chase that led to the untimely death of the yet-to-be-identified Man.
“Information reaching me now that Operation Delta Hawk @DeltaPoliceNG chase a boy into a nearby River ( lake ) at Deeper life road waterside in Ubeji/ Egbokodo Itsekiri Community both in Warri South local government area of Delta,” the X user posted on Monday.
On the 26th Wednesday at exactly 7:03 pm, the X user also posted the dead body of the yet-to-be identified man lying in a wooden Canoe.
He attached two videos of the dead body with a caption, “The corpse of the young man Delta hawk patrol van chase into a river at ubeji/Egbokodo Itsekiri area in Warri south local government area of Delta state floated this evening”.
Reacting to this development on Friday, the Delta PPRO said, “Please while we are investigating. we have not received any information from anybody on the victim’s identity and what happened apart from the post on Twitter. Anyone who can assist should please go to the Ubeji police post or A division Warri, especially for the Family“.
