The election petition tribunal sitting in Jos, the Platuea state capital, has dismissed the speaker of the state house of assembly, Hon. Moses Sule, and Hon. Danjuma Azi, of the Peoples Democratic Party. They were dismissed on Friday, September 29th.
In the early hours of Friday, the tribunal announced Hon Naanlong Daniel and Hon. Mark Naah of All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the March 18 election after dismissing PDP’s Hon. Moses Sule
The petition challenged by the APC candidate stood on the ground that the PDP candidates weren’t eligible to contest the election for lack of a better party structure.
The tribunal, which was led by Judge Muhammed Tukur and delivered the judgment, said the PDP was not eligible to have candidates for the election. He further stressed that the party did not have an organization; therefore, “nothing can stand on nothing”.
The tribunal also said that the PDP didn’t obey the order of Justice S. P. Gang of Plateau State High Court delivered on November 26, 2020, where an order was given that the party conduct ward congresses.
Justice Tukur said the INEC didn’t tender any classical documents that proved there was a congress in the party in 2021, as proved by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
