The Yobe State Police Command has reported that suspected insurgents have sabotaged two 330 KVA power transmission towers, leading to a blackout for residents of Borno and Yobe states.
DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed this development during a press briefing in Damaturu on Saturday.
Abdulkarim explained that the transmission towers, which supplied electricity from Gombe to Yobe and Borno, were targeted by attackers who used improvised explosive devices to cause the destruction in the early hours of Saturday.

“The transmission towers, situated in Kasaisa within Damaturu Local Government Area of the state, were severely damaged, resulting in the loss of power supply to both states,” he stated.
This recent incident marks the second attack on the towers within a span of three months. Previously destroyed in December, the towers had been repaired in January before facing another act of sabotage.
