At the recent Singapore Air Show, Indonesian aerospace company PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has finalized a significant deal to provide four CN235-220 transport aircraft to the Nigerian military.

The agreement, brokered through local Nigerian company Allied Aeronautics Limited (AAL), acting as the representative for the Nigerian Army, solidifies the CN235-220’s presence in the African defence landscape.

The CN235-220, renowned for its versatility, has previously been successfully deployed in other African nations such as Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Guinea. With a maximum take-off weight of 16,500 kg, this multipurpose aircraft boasts the capability to transport fully equipped soldiers and paratroopers, as well as support medical evacuation and disaster relief missions.

A notable feature of the CN235-220 is its adaptability to operate from short, unpaved, and grassy runways, making it an ideal choice for a variety of military and humanitarian applications.

PTDI highlighted that this strategic deal not only reinforces Indonesia’s role as a significant defence partner on the African continent but also showcases the country’s prowess in defence manufacturing.
