Nigeria’s Wealthiest Woman, Folorunsho Alakija, Allegedly Separates from Husband After Over 30 Years of Marriage

Folorunsho Alakija, renowned as Nigeria’s wealthiest woman and the founder of FAMFA Oil Limited, has reportedly separated from her husband, Modupe Alakija, after more than three decades of marriage.

The marital discord, according to sources cited by The Will newspaper, stems from frequent disagreements between the couple, leading them to make the decision to live separately.

Despite their prominent status in Nigerian society, insiders reveal that the strain in their marriage has prompted Folorunsho Alakija to seek utmost privacy.

Modupe Alakija is reported to no longer spend nights at their highbrow Ikoyi residence in Lagos, with Folorunsho Alakija allegedly demanding space and privacy.

The timing of this separation coincides with recent reports about Folorunsho Alakija’s health challenges, particularly issues with her eyes.

While the reasons behind the marital discord remain undisclosed, it appears that the couple had been putting up a united front in public, given their influential roles in Nigerian society.

As Folorunsho Alakija, now a minister of the gospel, navigates this personal challenge, her husband is said to have sought alternative accommodation within the Ikoyi neighbourhood.
