In its livestock vaccination campaign across the state, the Kano State Agro-pastoral Development Project (KSADP) estimates that it will cost roughly N160 million to vaccinate 1.8 million goats and sheep.
This was disclosed by the Kano government on Wednesday through a statement from KSADP spokesman Ameen Yassar.
The Islamic Development Bank and the Lives and Livelihood Funds are funding the project, which aims to improve cattle health and herders’ and breeders’ quality of life.
The KSADP project coordinator, Ibrahim Muhammad, revealed these at the beginning of the exercise’s community sensitization in Kura, close to Kano.

“The project is determined to upscale the vaccination because livestock health is tied to your livelihoods and, by extension, our economy. The objective of this interaction is to enhance vaccination and to seek the cooperation of all stakeholders so that the exercise succeeds.
“We shall soon award contracts for demarcation of stock routes in Kano, which is major step towards ending conflict between farmers and herders in Kano,” Mr Muhammad explained.
