In the Spirit of Ramadan: Gov Buni Pardons 33 Inmates In Yobe

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has pardoned 33 inmates at different correctional centers across the state in the spirit of the Holy month of Ramadan.

The pardon followed the advice of the Yobe State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy led by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Saleh Samanja.

The Attorney General disclosed that the council, has before the release of the inmates, visited Potiskum, Nguru and Gashu’a Correctional Services for the pardon.

Samanja stated the council visited all the correctional facilities in the state with a view to finding out those who deserve to enjoy the executive pardon.

He revealed that after careful deliberations, the advisory council came up with 33-man list of inmates for consideration by Governor Buni, whom he graciously accepted and approved their release to enjoy the freedom through the Executive Order vested.

Governor Buni in addition also approved the release of food palliatives to all correctional facilities across the state for inmates to also enjoy the Ramadan season.
