Alex Ferguson’s Wife, Cathy Dies At 84

The wife of former Manchester United’s manager, Alex Ferguson, has died at age 84.

She was confirmed dead on Thursday morning.

The death of Mrs. Cathy was revealed following the release of a statement on Friday by the Ferguson family.

The statement reads, “we are deeply saddened to confirm the passing of Lady Cathy Ferguson, survived by her husband, three sons, two sisters, 12 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. The family asks for privacy at this time.”

The Manchester United legend first met Lady Cathy in 1964, when they were both workers in a typewriter factory.

Their marriage came just two years later (1966).

Meanwhile, Manchester United took to their official X account to show condolences to the Ferguson family.

The post partly reads, “Everyone at Manchester United sends our heartfelt condolences to Sir Alex Ferguson and his family on the passing of Lady Cathy.”

“Lady Cathy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a tower of strength for Sir Alex throughout his career.”
