Following their successful qualification for the 2024 Olympics, the Super Falcons of Nigeria are now set to compete against world champions Spain, Brazil, and Japan in the women’s football tournament to be held in Paris.
The Super Falcons secured their spot for the Paris 2024 Olympics after defeating South Africa’s Bayana Bayana 1-0 on aggregate in a two-legged encounter, marking their first qualification in 16 years.
With this result, the Super Falcons claimed one of the continent’s two spots for the Olympics and have been placed in Group C alongside Spain, Brazil, and Japan.
The Olympic women’s football tournament features challenging groups, with host France aiming to emulate the US’s 1996 gold medal victory. France will contend with holders Canada, Colombia, and New Zealand, co-host of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, in Group A.

Groups B and C present tough competition, with the USA and Germany in Group B and Brazil set to face Spain in Group C.
Scheduled to commence on July 25, a day before the Olympic Games opening ceremony, the women’s tournament will conclude with the final match in Paris on August 10.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals, alongside the two best third-placed teams.
Group A: France, Canada, Colombia, New Zealand
Group B: USA, Germany, Australia, (Morocco or Zambia)
Group C: Spain, Japan, Brazil, Nigeria
