In a recent interview, renowned Israeli journalist Gideon Levy made some powerful statements about the situation in Gaza. Known for his candid and often controversial views, Levy did not hold back in expressing his thoughts on the ongoing conflict.
“Gaza is a cage, is the biggest prison in the world. Nobody spoke about lifting the siege. People who live 70 years in a cage want to resist, and if they have the possibility they’ll do it…” Levy said during the interview.
Levy, who has made it his mission to tell Israelis what it really means to live in an occupying power, has been a consistent critic of Israel’s policies towards the Palestinians. His views have often drawn heated debate, but he remains steadfast in his belief that the Israeli public needs to be aware of the realities of the occupation.
In addition to his comments on Gaza, Levy also spoke about what he sees as the ‘first signs of fascism’ in Israel. This term, loaded with political connotations, is seldom used between Israelis and has sparked further discussion about the state of Israel’s political climate.
Levy’s comments come at a time when tensions between Israel and Palestine continue to escalate.
