JUST IN: High Court Affirms Suspension of APC National Chairman, Umar Ganduje

A Kano State High Court has upheld the suspension of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former governor of Kano State and current national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The court’s decision followed an ex parte motion filed by Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani, represented by their counsel Ibrahim Sa’ad.

Justice Usman Mallam Na’Abba granted the ex parte order on Wednesday, April 17, prohibiting Ganduje from presenting himself as a member of the APC.

The plaintiffs, identified as executive members of the APC Ganduje ward, initiated the motion on behalf of the ward’s executive members.

The suspension, announced earlier by Gwanjo, the party’s ward Legal Adviser, was further affirmed by the court, which directed Ganduje to refrain from overseeing any activities of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC.

In response, the APC has lodged a petition with the Inspector General of Police concerning Ganduje’s alleged suspension. The legal battle over Ganduje’s status within the party is expected to continue amidst ongoing political tensions.
