The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) is finalizing arrangements to elevate all its customers to Band A and Band B categories. Mr. Sam Edoho, the General Manager of Commercial at EKEDC, unveiled this initiative during the Customers’ Engagement forum in Ojo, Lagos.
He pointed out the ongoing negotiations with partners to secure supplementary grid and off-grid sources, aiming to enhance the company’s service provision to a minimum of 20 hours per day within its franchise areas.
Edoho, who headed the company’s management team, including the General Manager, corporate services, Mr. Babatunde Lasaki; General Manager, Technical, Engineer Oluwafemi Olaoye; and head of metering, Engineer Gbadebo Akinyede, to the forum, stated: “All our customers are held in high esteem. We have the desire to, at all times, deliver quality hours of supply and services to them. The arrangement of customers into different bands was done by NERC due to supply availability. They did not do that to discriminate against anybody or to relegate others to the background.
“Going forward, we are working hard on negotiations with our partners to up our supply and services so that, in the long run, all our customers will get 20-hour supply and, when this happens, they will all be moved to Bands A and B.”

Likewise, Engineer Oluwafemi Olaoye, the General Manager overseeing technical operations, expressed, “While our responsiveness has garnered praise, we’re diligently striving to enhance our delivery performance.”
Meanwhile, Engineer Gbadebo Akinyede, heading the metering department, affirmed the company’s acknowledgment of existing metering gaps, emphasizing their concerted efforts to address them promptly. He added, “We’re dedicated to completing the necessary work as swiftly as possible.”
Also, the General Manager, Corporate Services, Babatunde Lasaki, said: “The EKEDC’S management is aware of the commitment of all our customers, and we shall keep working day and night to give you supply and service satisfaction,” he declared.
The Chairman of the Customers Forum, Engineer Bayo Oladosun, expressed his delight regarding the success of this engagement, stating, “I am greatly pleased by the outcome. We extend our gratitude to EKEDC for their initiative, and assure them of our ongoing cooperation.”
“We all know that the Company is profit-making, it is not a Father Christmas. Therefore, we call on all customers too to ensure prompt payment of bills while on the other hand, we encourage the company to always make customer satisfaction its priority at all times.”
