The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has highlighted notable points following the certificate forgery of Bola Tinubu, which has since made headlines.
In a press conference monitored by our reporter on Wednesday, Obi reaffirmed his commitment to a better Nigeria while declaring his stance on the certificate saga.
In this article, Parallel Facts takes a closer look at five key points from Peter Obi’s speech:
1. It doesn’t matter when this comes up. The issue is too fundamental to be trivialized at any time.
2. Uninformed outsiders now see Nigerians as fraudsters, certificate forgers, and identity thieves because of Bola Tinubu.
3. I call on him (Tinubu) to immediately and personally mount the rostrum of his present high office to perform a simple task once and for all time. He should re-introduce himself to the nation he governs and to the world to avoid further doubt.
4. The people (Nigerians) deserve to know with certainty the true identity of their leader, and this overrides whatever rights he (Tinubu) may have to personal privacy.
5. Chief Bola Tinubu has implicitly undertaken to cede the rights of a private citizen in favor of a life of open disclosure of his true identity and other circumstances that may be of public interest.
