The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced on Thursday the discovery of another illegal settlement beneath the Osborne Bridge in Ikoyi.
Wahab took to X.com to share the news, posting videos of the uncovered settlement. In a video, he stated, “Another illegal settlement was discovered under the Osborne Bridge, Ikoyi.“
The operation to clear the area was promptly initiated by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESCOfficial), also known as KAI.
This revelation follows recent reports detailing a similar find under the Dolphin Estate Bridge in Ikoyi. According to the reports, tenants were paying annual rents of N250,000 for the under-bridge accommodation.
Wahab provided specifics about the newly discovered under-bridge apartment, revealing that it comprised 86 partitioned rooms. These rooms varied in size, ranging from “10×10” to “12×10”.
