The Obi-Datti Chief Spokesman, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, has debunked claims that the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barrister Julius Abure, provided N850 million to the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for the 2023 election.

Reacting to the allegation made by Mr. Calistus Okafofor, Tanko asserted that the claim is false and stated that Obi did not receive any funds from the party. Instead, Tanko noted that Obi was the one who financially supported the party.

In a statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday, Tanko challenged Okafofor to produce evidence if the chairman indeed told him about giving money to Peter for campaign purposes.

Tanko emphasized that he was deeply involved in the campaign and aware of most expenses, and to his knowledge, the party did not provide money directly to Peter for his campaign rallies nationwide.

Tanko further highlighted that Obi and his supporters recognize the recent campaigns of calumny against the Labour Party leader, aimed at discrediting him due to his increasing popularity among Nigerians.

Tanko stated, “We are aware that people are already scheming for 2027 and it is unfortunate that certain individuals have chosen to divert attention from the high rate of insecurity and poverty that are currently threatening the very existence of our nation by constantly attacking the personality of Peter Obi.

“Those are the enemies of Nigeria and Nigerians but l know that God will disappoint them and rescue our country from their grips whether they believe it or not,” he added.
