Shehu Sani Reacts: Alleged List of EndSARS Protesters in Jail Emerges After Police Denial

An alleged list of EndSARS protesters reportedly still in detention has surfaced, contradicting recent claims made by the Nigerian police.

The list, which has been widely shared on social media, includes names of individuals allegedly detained following the nationwide protests against police brutality and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

This comes after former senator Shehu Sani said that the police were holding several protesters from the 2020 EndSARS demonstrations.

Shehu Sani had earlier stated that many protesters were still behind bars, despite the police’s assurances to the contrary.

Parallel Facts reported that police had firmly denied these allegations, insisting that no EndSARS protesters were currently in custody.

However, the emergence of the list has sparked renewed debate and concern among citizens.

Reacting to the list, Sani took to his X official handle and wrote, “The Police debunked my statement that some Endsars protesters are still held in custody.

“I hope they have read the list of names published,” he added.

Many Nigerians are calling for an investigation into the matter, demanding transparency and justice for those who were part of the peaceful protests.

Recall that the EndSARS protests, which began in October 2020, saw thousands of Nigerians take to the streets to demand the disbandment of SARS and an end to police brutality.
