Tinubu Should Sacrifice by Using Air Peace Boeing 777, Says Momodu; Insists Peter Obi’s Suggestion Is Not Wrong

Dele Momodu, Chief Executive Officer and publisher of Ovation International, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to demonstrate sacrifice by utilizing Air Peace’s Boeing 777 aircraft for his travels instead of purchasing new presidential jets.

In a post on his official X handle, Momodu argued that in challenging economic times, it is unnecessary and indulgent for the country to maintain presidential jets.

Momodu emphasized that Tinubu, who owned private jets before his presidency, could set an example by reverting to them and advising his entourage to use commercial flights when necessary.

He stated, “In these hard times, there’s no compulsory reason for a country to own Presidential jets. In fact, it is an overindulgence. ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU owned private jets ever before he was declared President.

“He can demonstrate the SACRIFICE he preaches by downsizing and returning to them and requesting his retinue to go commercial when absolutely necessary.

“AIR PEACE has a fleet of Boeing 777 that can be hired for long haul flights and this will keep them in business. Trouble is our politicians are outlandishly flamboyant… There’s nothing wrong with what PETER OBI said and suggested,” he added

Moreover, recall that on June 17, the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence recommended that the federal government purchase new aircraft for Tinubu and Kashim Shettima.

In response, Peter Obi, 2023 presidential candidate, condemned the proposal on his X handle, arguing that it highlights the disconnect between the government and the people. Obi stressed the importance of prioritizing citizens’ welfare and adopting a more compassionate approach to resource allocation.
