Sanwo-Olu Blows Hot, Vows Justice on Fouani Brothers’ Kidnappers

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has pledged to bring to justice those responsible for the recent kidnapping of three Lebanese nationals, including Muhammed Fouani, the Managing Director of Fouani Nigeria Limited. This assurance came through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized his administration’s zero tolerance for criminal activities. He reassured residents and business owners of the government’s commitment to maintaining security in the state. “The security of life and property is paramount, and we do not leave anything to chance on that,” he declared.

He expressed relief that the kidnapped individuals had been released and stated that the authorities had gathered valuable information to ensure the perpetrators would be apprehended. “The very recent incident that happened in Lagos was about the kidnapping of three members of our Lebanese community. We are happy that they have been released, and this morning (Wednesday), I met with them, and we have useful information to ensure that the perpetrators of the act are not going to be spared,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Sanwo-Olu also clarified details about the kidnapping incident, which had caused some confusion. “People thought the incident happened around the Five Cowry, Falomo. No, it actually happened on the big water on the way to Ikorodu. So they were not even around Falomo.”

He assured everyone that security forces were actively searching for the kidnappers. “We want to assure you that we are on top of it. The security operatives are combing all the necessary areas. This is a strong signal that Lagos will not condone such people with evil intentions.”

Sanwo-Olu emphasized his commitment to making Lagos a safe and attractive place for both local and international residents. “They do not deserve any sort of recognition. So, we will continue to make Lagos peaceful. We will continue to make it attractive and homely. We will continue to ensure that businesses thrive. We will ensure people live and work in a conducive environment,” the governor said.

The kidnapping involved the Managing Director of Fouani Company, which represents LG and Hisense in Nigeria, along with three Lebanese nationals. They were kidnapped on Friday while traveling by boat in Lagos State. Fortunately, they regained their freedom on Monday.

The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed their release via a text message to our correspondent. He stated that Abbas Fouani, Youssef Fouani, and Amtal Fouani, who were abducted on June 14 around 6 pm, were rescued on Monday night in Orugbo Iddo.
