Propaganda Aide, Bayo Onanuga, Defends Snub of Tinubu in South Africa by Attacking Aisha Yesufu Over 2023 Election

Bayo Onanuga, Chief Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, has labeled activist Aisha Yesufu as “bitter and toxic” due to the outcome of the 2023 presidential election. Onanuga claimed that Yesufu is upset because her preferred candidate, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, finished third.

The controversy erupted after Yesufu commented on a viral video of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa appearing to ignore Tinubu during his inauguration. In the video, Ramaphosa greeted other leaders in a line but seemed to skip Tinubu. Yesufu took to social media to express her thoughts, writing, “My people say Pikin wey no hear word for house na for outside dem go disgrace am! Tinubu disgraced once again in South Africa.”

Onanuga responded on X (formerly Twitter), criticizing Yesufu and her followers. He wrote, “Aisha and her uncouth horde of pessimists are always quick to rush to judgment with any whiff of what appears to them to be negative to the leader of Africa’s biggest democracy. More than a year after the 2023 election, in which their candidate came third, they remain incurably bitter and toxic, more than the supporters of the man who came second.”
