Suspected Transformer Thief Electrocuted in Benue

A young man suspected of vandalizing a transformer was electrocuted near the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) center in Otukpo, the headquarters of Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The incident occurred late on Friday when the unidentified man, believed to be a thief, had nearly finished tampering with a transformer on a high-tension pole. According to sources, the electricity supply was suddenly restored by the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC), resulting in the man being electrocuted.

The lifeless body was discovered hanging from the high-tension pole on Saturday morning, attracting a large crowd of onlookers. Passersby gathered around the scene, shocked by the gruesome sight.

“We came this morning and found the body suspended from the electric pole at a transformer with tools in his hand,” a source at the scene reported. The tools, presumably used for the attempted theft, were still clutched in the man’s grip.
