See It As Noble Profession — COAS Urges Youths to Consider Career in Nigerian Army

Lieutenant-General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has encouraged Nigerian youths to consider joining the Nigerian Army, describing it as a noble profession.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) made this appeal during his remarks at the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2024, held at the Headquarters of the 8th Division.

As part of the celebration, the Division organized a Public Speaking Engagement with students from Sani Dinyadi Unity Secondary School in Sokoto.

The public speaking exercise, conducted on Tuesday, July 2nd, in selected schools nationwide, provided a platform for the Nigerian Army to inspire and educate students about the various opportunities within the Army. It highlighted the positive contributions and achievements of the Nigerian Army in its service to the nation.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), in his remarks, said, “The engagement was part of the Army’s ways of creating unique opportunities for students to interact with personnel of the Nigerian Army.

“It is also aimed at fostering positive perceptions of the Nigerian Army among the younger generations, thereby encouraging them to consider serving in the Army which is a noble profession”

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), represented by Acting Commander of the 108 Division Equipment Workshop, Colonel Aliyu Musa, emphasized that the Nigerian Army provides individuals with ample opportunities to achieve their life goals, extending beyond combat roles.

He detailed the various functions and services each Corps within the Nigerian Army offers to society. The students, filled with enthusiasm, were educated on topics such as the selection and recruitment process, requirements for joining the Army, and the dangers of drug abuse. They were also informed about the numerous life-enhancing benefits available to serving personnel in the Nigerian Army.

Event highlights included a 20-minute video showcasing the evolution, structure, and future prospects of the Nigerian Army, the donation of writing materials and souvenirs to the school, and a group photograph.
