“No Administration Can Reconstruct All Roads,” Says Gov Abiodun, Insisting Eight Years Not Enough to Fix Ogun’s Bad Roads

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has urged residents to be patient with his administration, emphasizing that no government can fix all the bad roads in the state within eight years.

Addressing journalists on Monday, Governor Abiodun stated, “I want to implore our people to be patient with us. We cannot fix all the bad roads in three years.

“In fact, no administration can reconstruct all the roads in Ogun State, not even in 8 years,” he added.

Governor Abiodun, who has been in office for five years since winning the governorship election in 2019, made these remarks following significant public criticism over the state of roads in Ogun.

The criticism, amplified by the social media trend #Dapofixogunroads, called on the governor to prioritize road repairs over what many perceive as a wasteful and flamboyant lifestyle.

Recent torrential rains have worsened the situation, leaving many roads in deplorable condition. Social media footage has shown motorists stranded with broken-down vehicles and pedestrians navigating heavily flooded roads marred by large potholes and inadequate drainage systems.
