Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mrs. Mojisolaoluwa Kehinde Alli-Macaulay as the Executive Director (Operations) of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).
Alli-Macaulay, a former Lagos lawmaker, gained notoriety in 2020 for distributing COVID-19 palliatives, intended for her constituents, as birthday souvenirs. Her actions during the pandemic were widely criticized.
In addition to the palliative scandal, Alli-Macaulay made headlines during the #EndSARS movement. She accused protesting youths in Lagos of destroying properties and labeled them as “hoodlums” under the influence of drugs.
Speaking at the parliament, she stated, “Even as a young person, why can’t you become a designer? There is no excuse for being a hoodlum. The National Orientation Agency needs to set to work. We need to begin to orientate our young people.
“They need people who can talk to them from time to time. They are high on drugs all the time, most of them,” she added.
Alli-Macaulay’s appointment has drawn significant attention due to her controversial past actions.
