The Coalition of North-East Elders Forum (CNEF) has expressed strong disapproval of Senator Ali Ndume’s recent criticism of Chief Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Ndume had accused the administration of being run by kakistocrats and kleptocrats, terms referring to the least qualified and most unscrupulous individuals, and those in power merely to steal, respectively.
In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim Sheriff, the group emphasized that Senator Ndume should be collaborating with Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, and security agencies to combat the insurgency and banditry affecting Borno State and the northern region.
The group stated, “As concerned elders from the Northeast geopolitical zone, we wondered why during the days of President Buhari he chose to be silent in the midst of heightened problems of insecurity, pervasive hunger, looting of public funds, and bad governance?”
The statement questioned Ndume’s contributions to his constituency, asking what he had done with the funds allocated for constituency projects and interventions over his twenty years in the National Assembly.
The elders challenged Ndume to provide an account of his stewardship, particularly in terms of training, educating, and empowering internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The elders added, “If leadership is as easy as that, we make bold to ask, all these years, how many internally displaced persons (IDPs) has he trained, educated, and empowered with funds allocated to him?
“If Ndume is not a liability and economic burden to the good people of Borno State and the entire country, he should come out boldly to render an account of his stewardship, or we will mobilise voters against him come 2027.”
