Police Officer Arrested for Alleged Car Theft in Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of Police Inspector Aminu Muhammed for his alleged involvement in a robbery.

The officer, stationed at the ‘C’ Division in Lokoja, the state capital, is accused of robbing residences in the vicinity of his duty post.

According to Channels TV, William Ayah, the police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, and stated that Inspector Muhammed has been taken into custody and is currently detained, while the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Bertrand Onuoha, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the alleged misconduct.

Inspector Muhammed’s arrest followed the activities of a notorious gang known for robbing houses and stealing household items and cars in the state. The gang’s operations brought them to the attention of the police, leading to their eventual capture.

According to one member of the gang, who had been on the police wanted list for other crimes, confessed to their involvement in the robbery. He revealed that Inspector Muhammed was the mastermind behind the operation.

The Kogi State Police Command has assured the public that they are committed to upholding the law and maintaining integrity within the force, emphasizing that any officer found guilty of misconduct will face the full extent of the law.
