Police is Best Job in the World, Profession Where People Pray for You — IGP Egbetokun

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has described the police profession as the best job in the world.

Egbetokun made this statement during his two-day working visit to Edo State.

Egbetokun remarked, “Police job is a job you do and people will pray for you. It is also a job you do and people will give you the opposite of prayer. So, it is you, the policemen, who will decide which one you want.”

The IGP advised the officers of the Edo State Police Command to maintain transparency and honesty in their interactions with the public. He urged them to deliver their best service, uphold the highest standards of integrity, and earn public trust.

Egbetokun highlighted that the Nigeria Police was recently recognized as the most improved agency in anti-corruption efforts in Nigeria.

He attributed this achievement to the officers’ alignment with the new vision of creating a professionally competent, service-driven, rule of law compliant, and people-friendly police force.

Encouraging the officers to remain committed to excellent service delivery, Egbetokun assured them of the Federal Government’s dedication to enhancing police welfare.

He mentioned the recent launch of the police housing scheme, aimed at providing affordable housing for all ranks of police officers.

Speaking further, he stated, “The Federal Government is committed to improving police welfare and we are also doing our best to ensure that policemen have improved welfare

“Recently, we launched the police housing scheme. The intention of having a police housing scheme is to provide affordable housing to all police officers across the ranks.

“With what we have in place and what we are putting together, houses would be affordable for all police officers, such that you cannot serve the police for 35 years, retire and not have a home.

“That is what we are working on and we are getting support from the Federal Government. This is to show you that the government and the police administration are committed to improving welfare for all police officers,” he added.
