It’s Unpatriotic to Support Tinubu With Whatever He Does; Nigerians Are Suffering — Ndume Speaks Out

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has emphasized the need for Nigerians to speak truth to power, describing it as a patriotic duty.

Ndume made this statement during a press briefing in Maiduguri, Borno State, while reacting to his removal as Chief Whip of the Senate.

Ndume was ousted from his position on Wednesday following his vocal criticism of Chief Bola Tinubu’s administration.

He had previously raised concerns about the severe economic hardships facing Nigerians, urging the Federal Government to address the situation urgently.

During his address to journalists, Ndume questioned the rationale behind his sanction and expressed surprise that his views were not taken more seriously by those in power.

Ndume argued that it is unpatriotic to support Tinubu unconditionally and stressed the importance of holding leaders accountable.

Ndume stated, “It is unpatriotic to stand by Mr President with whatever he does, it is patriotic to speak the truth not only to the President but anybody for that matter. It unpatriotic not to speak the truth to power or anybody and still stand by that.

“People are not happy, people are suffering and angry. Leaders in this country need to take a review; they should get back to me to tell me whether I said anything that is not true or is wrong.

“It is God that gave me that position and it is God that took it, so I bear no grudge against anyone. Afterall, I didn’t contest to be the Chief Whip, I didn’t contest to be the Vice Chairman Appropriation Committee, I contested to be a senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.
