Adamawa State is set to immunize 388,180 females against the virus known as human papillomavirus (HPV), which is the cause of cervical cancer.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri announced the commencement of the immunization campaign on Tuesday.
Girls between the ages of nine and fourteen are the ones receiving the immunization.
In Adamawa State, the immunization campaign is anticipated to go door-to-door for three months. Those who could still be excluded after this time frame can use the program at any of the state’s 226 primary healthcare institutions.
During the flag-off event in Yola, Adamawa State Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, who represented Fintiri, gave the crowd assurances that the vaccination will safeguard girls between the ages of nine and fourteen by providing them with protection before they are exposed to the cervical cancer virus.”
The vaccination has been quite successful in many regions of the world. Cervical cancer is no longer a burden in many nations.
The governor declared, “This administration has acquired and supplied the facilities with necessary pharmaceuticals, equipment, consumables, and other supplies.”
The Commissioner for Health, Felix Tangwami, encouraged everyone in the target age group to receive the vaccination.
He disproved the myth that the vaccine aims to lower the number of people on Earth.
