Nigerian political activist and business woman, Aisha Yesufu has highlighted the plight faced by Nigerian business people without government connections, drawing attention to the recent frustrations expressed by Alhaji Aliko Dangote concerning his refinery project.
In a post on her X account, she wrote, “Nigeria kills its own. I truly agree with you, the refinery should not fail. All hands should be on deck to ensure it succeeds.
“Alhaji Dangote @AlikoDangote now feels what Nigerian business people with no government connections have always felt and gone through.
“How dreams are stolen and destroyed.

“Just yesterday LandMark got its share and there was silence from the business community.”
“When you speak up when others are affected, it is to ensure that a stop is put to such injustice so it never gets to you.”
Yesufu’s statement comes shortly after Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and prominent industrialist, voiced his discontent in response to increasing governmental pressures and alleged unfair treatment towards his business ventures, particularly the Dangote Refinery.
Dangote in an interview recently stated that he is being labelled a monopolist, “they have labelled me a monopolist. That’s an incorrect and unfair allegation, but it’s OK,” he said.
“We have been facing fuel crisis since the 70s. This refinery can help in resolving the problem but it does appear some people are uncomfortable that I am in the picture. So I am ready to let go, let the NNPC buy me out, run the refinery,” added Dangote, highlighting his willingness to step aside for the greater good of Nigeria.
