Court Nullifies Ghandi Olaoye’s Appointment as Soun of Ogbomoso

The Oyo State High Court in the Ogbomoso Judicial Division has overturned the appointment of King Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbomoso.

The ruling comes as a major setback for the Oyo State Government, which had officially announced and crowned Ghandi Olaoye as the reigning monarch in September 2023.

The legal battle for the coveted throne began when Prince Muhammed Kabir Olaoye, a rival contender, filed a lawsuit against Ghandi Olaoye, Governor Seyi Makinde, and the Attorney-General of Oyo State.

The lawsuit sought to prevent the coronation of any candidate until a final decision was reached in the case.

In a decisive verdict, the court issued an order that not only restrains Pastor Afolabi Ghandi Oladunni Olaoye from parading, representing, or presenting himself as the legitimate candidate for any ceremonial purposes but also prohibits the Oyo State Government from presenting any official instruments of office to the former RCCG Pastor.
