Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has criticized the planned nationwide protests in Nigeria, stating that such actions would be detrimental not only to the country but to Africa as a whole.
Speaking on Arise Television, Kalu argued that Nigeria should not follow the example of “smaller countries” like Kenya, emphasizing that Nigeria’s role as a leader on the continent should be maintained.
He further noted that Tinubu is seeking patience to address the issues stemming from 16 years of PDP rule.
Kalu stated, “Nigeria cannot be seen to be copying the footsteps of ‘smaller countries’ like Kenya. We play the big brother role in Africa, this protest will be emulated across Africa if not discouraged. President Tinubu is only asking for patience to correct the 16 years of PDP rule in Nigeria.”
