The National Chairman of the Northern Comrades Movement of Nigeria (NCMN), Mal. Jabir Ibrahim Taro has been reportedly detained by the officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) over the upcoming nationwide protest against bad governance in Nigeria.
An active Nigerian and X user with the @n6oflife6 confirmed this evening.
He wrote, “I just got a call from @Mallam_jabeer that he has been detained by the DSS. This young man is Peaceful & has been law abiding over his protest arrangements. Arresting him before August 1 makes no Sense. Efforts are being made to get him released. Nigeria we Hail Thee.”
Jabir earlier today tweeted, “#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: After a long conversation with the@PoliceNG, we couldn’t reach any agreement, but I will brief the public about the conversation later in the day. I am now on my way to meet the @OfficialDSSNG,” over five hours ago, and since then no one has heard from him.
Buttressing the arrest claim, an X user, @EmirSirdam wrote “We are getting information that the rouge SSS aka DSS have detained @Mallam_jabeer. They are just trying to provoke Nigerians to act faster. To protest is not a crime, #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Protest is Sacrosanct!
“Someone fulfilled your request and you detained him, yet you want the youth to remain peaceful?” an X user, @Ayemojuba reacted.
@Master_Zeji tweeted, “At this point, they’re daring Nigerians and they’ll get what they asked for!! #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria.”
@Komly_ wrote, “Exactly they just want to trigger the masses. #FreeMallamJabirNow #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria.”
